What doesn't kill us..

"What doesn't kill us makes us stronger" ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

I have often used this personal philosophy to comfort, encourage, motivate myself... knowing full-well that after years and years of use, the therapeutic aspects are very much worn and the more important asset is endurance and not strength.

"To live is to suffer, to survive is to find some meaning in the suffering" ~
Friedrich Nietzsche

This Nietzsche guy sure could minimize life... I wonder if he would have waxed so prophetic if he lived in the 21st Century?

"When you look into an abyss... " ~ Friedrich Nietzsche

Yeah, yeah... the abyss also looks into you. I think I'd stop payment on my co-pay if this was the advise I was being given.

"Surviving a jump into the abyss may not kill you and may make you stronger, but the lesson doesn't come from the jumping, the abyss, or the survival... it comes from understanding the lapse in character that allowed you to jump in the first place." ~ Kevin L Kalmes

So, what you don't allow to kill you only proves your strength comes from within and not from circumstances beyond or even in your control.

A thousand tiny surrenders...

You don’t wake up one day a bad person. It happens by 1,000 tiny surrenders of self-respect to self-interest. ~ R. Brault

First they came for the communists, and I did not speak out–
because I was not a communist;
Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out–
because I was not a socialist;
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out–
because I was not a trade unionist;
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out–
because I was not a Jew;
Then they came for me–
and there was no one left to speak out for me... Martin Niemöller

We feel blessed...

Hello, my friend... you are heads and clouds above those who think compassion is a pillow too soft, empathy a weakness saved for stray dogs and horses, respect comes from a leather belt, sacrifice is expected from others, and generosity is a character-flaw... we know about shared sacrifice and shared prosperity.

We give all that we have and more than we receive in return... and for this we feel blessed!

If everyone embodied this gracious charity my friend, how would we shine above all others!

Privatizing America and making government inconsequential

As conspiratorial as it sounds... it is about the deconstucting of the middle-class! Privatization of American jobs and professions that can't be sent overseas like teachers and education, security and prisons, public-private partnerships to build and run highways, private and foreign sector ownership of America's infrastructure.

Want to know why the Republicans won't support infrastructure job programs? Because investment firms including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, and the Carlyle Group benefit from the decay of America's infrastructure driving values down allowing purchases at the lowest price possible maximizing returns for their investors.

We will soon be paying Wall Street investors, Australian bankers, and Spanish contractors for the privilege of driving on American roads, as more than twenty states have enacted legislation allowing public-private partnerships to build and run highways. ~ ProjectCensored.org

Making Education Inconsequential

How does making our educators 'enemies of the state" promote the American Dream? How did teachers become the scapegoats for spending proliferation and billions of dollars in state deficits?

John Kuhn, superintendent of the Perrin-Whitt Consolidated Independent School District in North Texas... at a Texas Save Our School rally at Austin, Texas in March.

I stand before you today proudly bearing the label of unacceptable because I educate the children they will not educate. I, day after day, take these children broken by the policies adopted by the people in this building, and I glue their pieces back together. And at the end of my life you can say those children were better for passing through my sphere of influence. I am unacceptable and proud of it. Look around you. Public school teachers, you are the saviors of our society and always have been. You are the first responders standing in this rubble while they sit in their offices and write judgmental things about you on their clip boards. You are our heroes, and 27 billion is not near enough for what you're worth. You are priceless, public school teachers of Texas. Fear Not. This is our eternal glory.

It is ours to educate. I will march into that classroom full of children who need me. I will walk proudly into that classroom.

Bail out the bankers and bankrupt the teachers. We will still teach. I'm not in it for the money. I'm not in it for the benefits. I'm in it because it is right. I'm in it because the children... need somebody like me in their lives. I will Teach these kids.

How naive we all are to imagine it's about the teachers... it's about privatizing education! It's about busting unions and bringing another group of Americans to their knees.

Governor Rick Perry announced his campaign for president in a speech to the RedState Gathering in Charleston, S.C., “I’ll promise you this,’’ he said, “I’ll work every day to try to make Washington, DC, as inconsequential in your life as I can.’’

And then he will work with the RWGOPTP's to make your life as inconsequential as he can while they deconstruct the middle-class one hardworking American at a time!

Great Hub KK. The Republican party has become the great destroyers of all we once considered beneficial and sacred. The collective good, education, science, unions, affordable healthcare, and many other things. They are now the party of the corporations, wealthy, and the individual narcissists. Governor Rick Perry and Rep. Michelle Bachmann embody this entirely. We must defeat them and the GOP and restore this country to its former greatness and compassion.

Hello HS, well said and great political insight... Dems did such a piss poor job of showing up in 2010 and we got RWGOPTP governors, senators, representatives heading straight for the iceberg knowing full well that it lies dead ahead.

At first it was impossible to believe the course they had taken, but once you realize it's about deconstucting the middle-class, making government inconsequential, and giving all the power over to the rich... it makes perfect sense.

The circle of life... once a nation fighting for freedom from the feudal systems of our ancestors, we are now handing over our hard fought personal freedoms to a feudal system of power and money!

When will the RWGOPTPs realize they are a part of the 98% that will be over-powered and not the 2% who will be ruling their lives!

They are walking right into the trap they set for themselves!

About 55 years ago there was a teacher that was hated by all of us that had trouble reading, including me. We hated and talk about her in many disrespectful ways when she wasn't around. Children during those days would never disrespect teachers or any adults. The gift she gave me was the ability to read and comprehend. She gave us these gift for life after school hours on her own time, year after year she was disliked by the kept-in after school poor readers. Privatalization is a word used by private sector to promote the end of government cost controls for public service. Some things can't be really understood without one's ability to read and comprehend. It seems that many Americans want to be told what to think and say,T.V. and Radio has replaced reading and thinking. Maybe they are drinking and thinking. Very good hub, vote up and useful. KKalmes You will never be forgoten by those you help.

Hello junko, your teacher story is wonderful and resonates with many people who as children poked fun at the dedicated teacher who earned her tenure after years of our spitballs, reading inane and very poor attempts at writing assignments, came in early and left late... bringing papers to grade home with them.

And just as Lawrence O'Donnell recalls his teachers' determination to teach him how to read, write and comprehend something more complex than "see Jane run" without seeming to have succeeded they can now beam with pride at their success.

I would give anything to contribute to victims of today's deconstruction of the middle-class in some small way by lending my voice, my God-given talent for writing and articulation, my passion and my fury! Thank you for your acknowledgement!

What the powers that be want is an ignorant mass of peasants that will do as they're told, and access to education stands in their way. It isn't enough to degrade education to the point that a present high-school graduate has only elementary skills, even that is too much. Why, people who can read and use rational thought might think for themselves instead of taking the daily "sermon from Mount Fox" at face value. Yes, the brave new world coming up will have no use for the thinking man, only for the accepting man. So, we go on, allowing ourselves to be manipulated and programmed, dupes of the great game of divide and conquer in play right now.

That's why teachers are under attack. Serfs and slaves need no education.

Hello again, Lynda... correct and perceptive as usual... the crucial point is that we will not accept the 'new world order'!

Heart, soul, and mind... don't fail me now!

Take care...

and there was no one left to speak out for me...

We need to make sure there is always someone speaking out for the middle-class... there are too many of us to acquiesce to the greedy few!

Kevin You nail it in every sentence I so see it too. The continuing decline of our great nation in the name of corporate profits and they seem so blind to the eventual outcome. My kids see it and I am sure a lot of kids see it and we wonder why so many kids are nihilist in outlook. it seems that only the adults in the room are deceived by the voodoo the corps and political parties are spewing. It gets hard to look beyond next week sometimes hell It is almost impossible to look to the future hard as i might try. But I will keep trying I owe it to the kids my and everybody elses.

Hello Martin, thank you for the visit and comments... remaining optimistic is the challenge and if there's one thing I love... it's a good challenge! Failure is not an option which is the best motivator! We believe in President Obama and support him without question, so the fight will be a privilege.

Stay strong, stay committed, stay motivated!
